12 September 2008 - Sarah Palin stands up for Israel
In last night's interview with Charlie Gibson, Sarah Palin was asked whether the U.S. should allow Israel to launch a pre-emptive strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.
Her answer:
"We cannot second-guess the steps that Israel has to take to defend itself."

Not second guessing Israel is probably for the better. It would be a tad embarassing for someone with no foreign policy and security experience (yes, she can see Russia from her back yard! Oh, and the Alaskan National Guard, let's not forget about that!) to express views on a subject she knows nothing about.
Then again, what do I know? Except for the Bush Doctrine that is... Oops! She doesn't know what that is either. Oh well.
As a South African I have not kept close tabs on the USA elections. The knee-jerk sentiment in the mainstream SA English media has been pro-Obama and anti-McCain, which has kept me sceptical to say the least. But the video devastatingly shows up Palin's deficiencies, even allowing for the fact that the format and topic puts her at a serious disadvantage. And that does raise uncomfortable questions around her choice as running mate, which should not be side-stepped.
