13 January 2008 - Um... I guess I don't read all the articles...

The October 2007 issue of Playboy included a rather stupid article by Jonathan Tasini entitled “Israel Shouldn’t Get a Free Pass.” It’s more of the same—a lefty Jew claiming that “in the U.S. it’s impossible to be critical of Israel without being labeled anti-Semitic or worse.” I… er… somehow missed this one. There are several good letters in the February 2008 issue taking Playboy and Tasini to task.

Tasini also blames his failure to unseat Senator Hillary Clinton in the 2006 New York democratic primary to his criticism of Israel. He lost by a margin of 83% to 17%. History is replete with examples of people scapegoating Jews for their own failures. Now we have Jews scapegoating Israel. The combo of porn and propaganda is a little disturbing, and suggests anti-Israel hysteria is going mainstream.

I'm all for open debate, etc., but I'm not going to link to any of the sites that are featuring the Tasini article, because I don't feel like driving up their hit count. Nor do I wish to reprint it here. Here's what CAMERA had to say about it. All that really needs to be added is that you can't buy Playboy in any Muslim country other than Indonesia (and there are several where you can't even read it legally).

Examples of antisemitism going mainstream are all too common, but this is a notable example.
